SHE SHINES
(latin version)

lyrics
Wherever she goes she shines, she shines
Twinkle, twinkle, big eyes she shines
Like sea shells in the sand, like the singer in a band
Wherever she goes she shines

And she keeps shining, she's the lightest of my life
And I'm a lost and lonely sailor on my way home
Bada vodo wé, she shines, she shines

Wherever she sails, she shines, she shines
Twinkle, twinkle, big smile she shines
Imagine golden ocean waves and you'll see the curls upon her face
Wherever she goes she shines

And she keeps shining, she's the lightest of my life
And I'm a lost and lonely sailor on my way home
Bada vodo wé, she shines, she shines

Shine away, she's shining the way, yeah, she's showing the way
Shine away, she's shining the way, yeah, she's showing the way

Cinco meses que eché a andar
Dejé Cuba tras del mar
La única negra en mi piel
Ahí te quería ver !

Shine away, she's shining the way, yeah, she's showing the way
Shine away, she's shining the way, yeah, she#s showing the way

Cinco meses sin comer
Cinco meses sin beber
Espérate que llegue y te voy a ..
Ahí te quería ver !

Shine away, she's shining the way, yeah, she's showing the way
Shine away, she's shining the way, yeah, she's showing the way
Shine away, shine away, mama, please show me the
Shine away, shine away, mama, please show me the way

Wherever she goes she shines, she shines
Twinkle, twinkle, big eyes
Like sea shells in the sand, like the singer in a band
Wherever she goes she shines

And she keeps shining, she's the lightest of my life
And I'm a lost and lonely sailor on my way home
Bada vodo wé, she shines, she shines

english translation

of the refrain only

Five months that I walked away
I left Cuba behind the sea
The only dark woman close to my skin
That's where I wanted to see you !

Five months without eating
Five months without drinking
Just wait till I come back to you to ..
That's where I wanted to see you !

annotations
There is a French version of 'She Shines' but it is still hiding in the vault. It has a very different rhythm, more like a ballad, and a long piano intro. The lyrics have English phrases inserted. (as)

The Spanish expression 'Ahí te quería ver' is frequently used in an informal way, quite like the English 'Come on, baby'. Sebastián used this expression extremely often, sometimes followed by a second part, 'Ahí te quería ver / mascarita de papel' (Come on, you paper mask). He used that, for example, in the long version of 'Lift your hands' that is yet to be published. (as)

'Bada vodo wé': it seems that Sebastián liked to use these meaningless sort of expressions sin sentido, like 'borá borá bodé' in 'Keep on singing', or 'Everytimeagadamagadamagadá' at the end of 'Aye más c’est so', etc. (as)

As far as we know, Sebastián never travelled to Cuba. (as)
