Linking to the Wynkoop Genealogy Web (RWG3+)
It is my idea, dream and hope to help creating a fully hyperlinked version of RWG3 and, using the same structure Richard Wynkoop used in 1904, add all information that is available today and make an extended and definitive edition: RWG3+. Just like I did that on the pages linked above. In the long run I hope that several American Wynkoops will take over the maintainance of all these pages. All that I would do then, concerning the American Wynkoop branch, is setting up the 'mother site' in cooperation with Christopher Wynkoop, the number # 1 Wynkoop genealogist in the USA. Visit his site and make sure you have enough time to read all of the well over 400 pages!
All I would do is providing the Wynkoop platform, the 'mother site' with the frames, and of course the support. Chris (with whom I didn't discuss this concept yet, as he is temporarily sort of off genealogical duty) would be the perfect person to supervise the correctness of the data all of you will put in. His Wynkoop database and knowledge on this topic is almost scaring, and for sure his information bank on Wynkoop topics is by far the most complete one there is.
Setting up your part of the Wynkoop Genealogy Web (RWG3+) would be simple. Say, you know a lot more about the descendants of a line that stops in RWG3, e.g. # 1465, Lewis Emmanual Wynkoop. Then you'd set up a directory on your home page server, e.g. www.provider.com/your_root/rwg3/ and copy your file "1465.htm" into that, together with a copy of the background file that I (& Jim & Tracy & others used or) use. Easiest way to do this is to copy and save an example file from my site (or ask me details), change the author name and replace my data with yours.
Obviously, we could always discuss details like styling, link colours, background, fonts & sizes, etc. As long as we all support the same standard, and as long as it loads as fast as possible. Of course, you can always put your data exactly in the way you want it on your home page. You'd probably háve to: many people who have contributed so far have genealogical data that go way beyond the concept of RWG3, and usually also involve branches from families that are connected to the Wynkoop tree by marriage. It is strongly recommended to link your RWG3+ files to your other files, just like it is recommended to (where ever possible), link the persons in your RWG3+ pages to own pages with more detailed information about them, photos, etc. Obviously, these links should be [target="_blank"] to avoid causing a frame-in-frame chaos. Other requirements to your RWG3+ files would be that they are free of frames, pop-ups and ads. And there are probably more things to think of, but as I never got any further than page 7 of Internet for Dummies .. ;-)
Anyway, you can see an fine example of how all this work by clicking on the right links above. There in the line 'jumpstation' you see two links to '1465'. The first version comes from my Luxembourg server, but the second labeled 'by Jim' comes straight from Jim's Pennsylvania server. Apart from the credit lines you can't see a difference. This way Jim can update all information on his branch of the family, and at the same time make his site be part of the Wynkoop platform.
