Moselle Region

Bourscheid Castle

The Moselle region in the south-east of Luxembourg is shaped by the wine production (mostly white wines). This makes it one of the most scenic regions of the country.

Only a few elements of the ruin of Burscheid castle have been rebuild. The scenic ruin has already been one of the favourite places of Victor Hugo duing his exile in Luxembourg. The view from the central building over the valley of the river Sauer alone is worth the visit.


Echternach

Echternach Basilica

Echternach is a scenic town in the center-east of Luxembourg. The town was first mentionned by the romans 100 BC. It is situated in one of the most scenic regions for tourism in Luxembourg.

The Basilica of Echternachbuilt in the 8th century by St Willibrord. The monastry and the church acquired afterwards a great importance in Westeuropean christianity.

Echternach St Peter and Paul Church

In Echternach you find many beautyful commerce signs like this one. Do not forget to look up when strolling through the streets of the town.

The St Peter and Paul Church is one of the many buildings and museums that are worth a visit in Echternach.

Beaufort Castle

Beaufort Renaissance Castle

The construction of the Beaufort castle began in the 12th century. As the castle was build in several phases, one can see different building styles of the Middle Ages.

The Renaissance Castle of Beaufort, built in the 17th century, is right aside the ruins of the old castle.

Vianden

Vianden Castle

Vianden is a scenic tourist town situated in the magnificent valley of the river Our. The town is dominated by its castle, which is situated on a hill in the middle of the town. Vianden was the preferred place of Victor Hugo during his exile.

The castle of Vianden was build between the 11th and the 14th century. After having survived the Middle Ages, it was destroyed when William I of Holland sold it piece by piece in 1820. In 1977 it was acquired by the family of the Grand-Duke and it was completely rebuilt to its original state since then.

Clervaux

Clervaux Abby

Clervaux is a scenic town in the nothern part of Luxembourg, the so called "Éisleck", which is part of the ardennes. In the castle of Clervaux there are several exhibitions of World War II, the battles of which also took place in the Luxembourg.

The Benedictine Abby of Clervaux is scenicly situated in the woods on a hill overlooking the town of Clervaux.
